My Back Against The Wall
When I heard this phrase as a child I knew people meant
business and there was no room for error or time to waste.
Recently this word has taken on new meaning for me. My back
against the wall always denoted great stress, worry, fear, and anxiety.
In my
mind I decided to use the negative energy associated with it to push me to go
harder in a positive direction.
Now when I say my back is against the wall I mean I have
deadlines coming quickly, but I am free from stress. It motivates me, it does
not intimidate me.
I have started to refocus
myself in a way where it is more about filling my goals and desires than
allowing myself to be on other people’s calendar for my success. Does this make
sense to you?
Many times
when people feel that their back is against the wall they are referring to others
around them who will be aggravated if their paper, project, notes, or presentation is not done
within an expected time frame.
We all need deadlines and boundaries that help
keep us balanced; I am not negating that in anyway. However, many of the
deadlines that I am referencing to are mental. They are those voices in your head
that tell you to “give up this project because it is too big for you to handle.
You will never be able to complete this task, so don’t try to” is what you hear.
This is the
wrong attitude to have. I am telling you today stop letting your inside voice
and outside voices from others hinder your growth.
Let the term
my back against the wall take on new meaning in your life. Stop allowing
everyone else to control your future, hops, & dreams.
It is time to envision
life the way you see it on your schedule. This is not a license to become lazy
this is a license to take yourself off of the hook from other people’s expectations of you.
Stop living under the microscope of other people's demands and opinions.
Set time
tables that are realistic for your life. Live according to your God given purpose,
and stop being worried about what other people will think of you if
things in your life don’t happen when they thought they would.
Life is a process
and there are so many unexpected challenges that come our way. No matter how
many times you get knocked down keep getting back up. There is a fighter in
you.
No matter
how close your back gets to the walls of life remember to turn that negative
energy into positive power.
