My Back Against The Wall

My Back Against The Wall

When I heard this phrase as a child I knew people meant business and there was no room for error or time to waste.

Recently this word has taken on new meaning for me. My back against the wall always denoted great stress, worry, fear, and anxiety.

In my mind I decided to use the negative energy associated with it to push me to go harder in a positive direction.

Now when I say my back is against the wall I mean I have deadlines coming quickly, but I am free from stress. It motivates me, it does not intimidate me.

I have started to refocus myself in a way where it is more about filling my goals and desires than allowing myself to be on other people’s calendar for my success. Does this make sense to you?

Many times when people feel that their back is against the wall they are referring to others around them who will be aggravated if their paper, project, notes, or presentation is not done within an expected time frame.

We all need deadlines and boundaries that help keep us balanced; I am not negating that in anyway. However, many of the deadlines that I am referencing to are mental. They are those voices in your head that tell you to “give up this project because it is too big for you to handle. You will never be able to complete this task, so don’t try to” is what you hear.

This is the wrong attitude to have. I am telling you today stop letting your inside voice and outside voices from others hinder your growth.

Let the term my back against the wall take on new meaning in your life. Stop allowing everyone else to control your future, hops, & dreams.

It is time to envision life the way you see it on your schedule. This is not a license to become lazy this is a license to take yourself off of the hook from other people’s expectations of you.

Stop living under the microscope of other people's demands and opinions.

Set time tables that are realistic for your life. Live according to your God given purpose, and stop being worried about what other people will think of you if things in your life don’t happen when they thought they would.

Life is a process and there are so many unexpected challenges that come our way. No matter how many times you get knocked down keep getting back up. There is a fighter in you.

No matter how close your back gets to the walls of life remember to turn that negative energy into positive power.

Show Them That You Care

Most human beings just simply want to hear the ones they love say “I care about you!” And truly mean it on a deeper level. They just want the people in their lives to show a genuine interest in the things that he or she deems important to one’s self.

Saying you care is a great start, but showing her that you care is even better. I ask myself sometimes “how well do I really know the people in my family?” Now that might sound a little crazy to you, but I assure you that it is not.

When is the last time that YOU really set down and asked someone something about their life because you truly wanted to know more about them?

Love is not just a feeling it is an action. It is time to start expressing your love and appreciation with greater vigor for the people in your life.

It is great to say kind words, but kind words followed up with simply gesture like taking time out of your day to ensure that the person you love is okay, makes the greatest impact on your relationship.

Try putting the ones you love first. Make sure you ask them how they are doing before you unload your day on them; it will show that you truly care and that you are concerned about their feelings!Let me know how it goes!

"Intentional Action" Quote

"Forgiveness is an intentional action not a haphazard accident. To be more forgiving you have to make a daily effort to forgive others."

Courage, Bravery, Fear: Which one are you?

Courage is not about feeling brave it is about being scared in the face of fear while not backing down. Having courage means you find the strength you need to move pass an insurmountable challenge that stands in your way.

Think about the last time you were afraid to do something big. What did you do to move pass that fear?

Growing up I thought being brave was feeling fearless at all times. When situations came my way and I was afraid I felt weak. I ultimately began to believe I was a failure. I started to think I could NEVER be brave.

One day I learned a lesson that forever changed my life. I learned that most successful people have had to overcome many challenges to be where they are today.

Life was not always easy for them just like it is not always easy for you and I. One of the most brilliant minds such as Albert Einstein failed standardized examinations and struggled to find work.

The history books do not remember your struggles as much as they remember your achievements.

So what am I saying? You will not always feel strong or even brave. It is not in a feeling rather it is in a knowing deep down within.

It is okay to be scared it just means that you are human. Take a deep breath and say to yourself ”I can do this!” It may take you a few times, but never give up. What most people think of as bravery is really persistence and sheer determination.

Next time when someone says ”wow you are really brave.” Tell them no politely, and say “I am afraid, but I made a choice a long time ago to do it no matter what I was feeling.”

"Never Be Jealous"

Never be jealous of anyone. Celebrate others for what they are doing, and for what they are good at.

Love yourself enough to improve the person you see standing before you today.

There is NEVER any reason to be jealous of others when God has already given you enough charm, pizazz, strength , and talents.

Be the best you God created. Be grateful for all you have and you will not have to worry about the spirit of jealous coming in, and disrupting your life.

Remember you are truly special and wonderfully made in the image of God Himself. Just in case no one told you today YOU really are more than ENOUGH!  Be blessed beautiful! ;)

"TRUST"

TRUST

Trust is not something that you can buy from a store. Trust is not something that a person is entitled to have from you. Trust is one of the most valuable things a person can give to you. Trust cannot be demanded it must be earned.

Having a person’s trust is key to having their full commitment and loyalty. When relationships are built on a strong foundation it will not fall apart easily.

Trust is essential to a lasting friendship, partnership, team unity, and a romantic relationship.  If the parties involved don’t have a trusting relationship it is destined to fail.

Today take some time and reflect on the relationships in your life. It is important to realize who you are. Are you a person who has problems trusting others, are you a person who trust too easily, or are you a little bit of both?

Next decide who are the people you truly feel are in your corner. YES I am asking you to make a list!! This is just for your eyes only.

It’s good to know who you are and what issues you are dealing with. Everyone who smiles in your face is not a friend. Sometimes they are just there in the moment passing by. To be honest you, and I don’t need any more of those kinds of people in our lives.

 ITS TIME FOR A CHANGE

Trust is the beginning of love, understanding, commitment, friendship, loyalty, and communication. Trust is the gate keeper to any real relationship you ever expect to have. Make sure you are a person WORTH TRUSTING and that others around you are WORTHY OF YOUR TRUST. Remember trust has to be a balanced equation.

In your own words tell me what is trust to you? What is not trust in your opinion? I would love to know what you think!
